Wants – Complete Paralives Guide

Paralives Early Access 2026 | Last Updated: May 25, 2026

What Are Wants?

Wants are short-term, contextual desires that appear for your Parafolk during Live Mode. They reflect what your Para wants to do right now, based on their current Needs, Emotions, Traits, Vibe, relationships, skills, and long-term Goals. Fulfilling Wants keeps your Para happy, helps shape their personality, and guides natural, immersive gameplay.

Core Mechanics

  • Wants appear as clear, actionable prompts for the selected Para.
  • Each Para can have a small number of active Wants at the same time.
  • Unfulfilled Wants reset overnight when your Para sleeps.
  • You can choose which Wants to fulfill — you are not forced to complete every one.
  • Fulfilling Wants gives small but meaningful rewards and boosts positive Emotions.
  • Ignoring Wants leads to no severe punishment, but may cause mild negative feelings over time.

How Wants Are Generated

Wants are not random — they are directly tied to your Para’s current state and environment:

  • Low or unfulfilled Needs (Hunger, Energy, Bladder, Hygiene)
  • Current Emotions and overall Vibe
  • Traits (Neat, Active, Night Owl, Sloppy, etc.)
  • Skill learning and progression goals
  • Social relationships and nearby Parafolk
  • Career tasks and work-related needs
  • Living space and surrounding objects in Melino
  • Long-term Goals your Para is working toward

Common Types of Wants

These are the most frequent Want categories you’ll see in Early Access:

Need-Based Wants

These come from low Needs and are the most common:

  • Eat a snack or meal
  • Take a nap or sleep
  • Use the toilet
  • Take a shower or wash hands

Comfort & Lifestyle Wants

  • Relax on a couch or bed
  • Tidy up a room
  • Watch TV or listen to music
  • Enjoy a view or outdoor space

Skill-Based Wants

  • Practice an instrument (Piano, Guitar, Triangle)
  • Cook a meal
  • Paint a picture
  • Work on Programming or Graphic Design
  • Garden or tend to plants

Social Wants

  • Chat with a neighbor
  • Compliment another Para
  • Spend time with a household member
  • Have a friendly conversation

Career & Progression Wants

  • Complete a work task
  • Earn extra income
  • Improve job performance
  • Work toward a promotion

Rewards for Fulfilling Wants

  • Small boost to mood and positive Emotions
  • Personality Points to unlock or upgrade Traits
  • Progress toward personality leveling and growth
  • More natural, autonomous behavior from your Para
  • Stronger alignment between your playstyle and your Para’s identity

Wants vs. Goals

It’s important to tell the difference between these two systems:

  • Wants: Short-term, spontaneous, quick to complete, reset daily, small rewards
  • Goals: Long-term aspirations, big milestones, no daily reset, larger rewards, shape long-term gameplay

Synergy with Other Systems

↔ Needs

Unmet Needs almost always create matching Wants. Fulfilling a Want often fixes a low Need at the same time.

↔ Emotions & Vibe

Happy, inspired Paras get Wants for creative or fun activities. Stressed or bored Paras may get Wants to relax or change their activity.

↔ Traits

Traits directly change which Wants appear:

  • Neat Paras frequently want to tidy up
  • Active Paras want to exercise or dance
  • Night Owl Paras get energized Wants late in the day
  • Sloppy Paras rarely want to clean or organize

↔ Skills & Careers

Wants often push your Para toward actions that level skills or improve career performance, making progression feel natural.

Pro Tips for Managing Wants

  • Prioritize Wants tied to low Needs first to keep your Para stable.
  • Fulfill Wants that match your long-term Goals for efficient progression.
  • Ignore low-value Wants if you’re focused on building, decorating, or story moments.
  • Use Wants as a guide for new players — they show you what your Para needs next.
  • Fulfilling consistent types of Wants helps shape a unique, cohesive personality for your Para.
