A few building tricks I discovered in Paralives

Hey everyone! 👋

I’ve been messing around in Build Mode and put together some useful tips. Thought I’d share them with everyone — hope they help with your builds!

Structure & Layout Tips

1. Half-grid walls – hold Shift!

When you’re drawing a wall, just hold Shift and the grid will snap to half-sized squares. Super useful for weird-shaped windows or asymmetrical walls. Try it!

2. Making a front porch platform (without losing your floor)

Want a little platform in front of your door? Here’s the trick:

  • Grab the destruction tool (the hammer icon up top).
  • Normally, if you delete a wall, the floor underneath disappears too. Annoying, right?

  • But if you hold Shift while destroying the wall… the floor stays!

  • Clear out the walls you don’t need, then raise that floor piece by two grid steps. Boom – instant
  • platform. 👍

3. Free transform – move, rotate, scale anything

Hold Ctrl and click on the item(s) you want to mess with. Now you can freely move, rotate, or scale them however you like. No grid restrictions. This one’s a game changer.

Decor & Customization Tips

4. Put your own pictures into frames

Click on a picture frame → choose the “Replace Image” icon. Scroll all the way down to the bottom – you’ll see an “Add More” button. Click that and you can pick any image from your own computer. Works great for family photos or custom art.

5. Flip curtains and tables horizontally

Some curtains and tables can be flipped left-to-right. Just look for the flip button in the UI (it’s shown in the screenshot). Click it and done.

6. Different cabinet styles & handle swaps

Cabinets have multiple styles – just click the three dots to browse them.

And here’s a cool one: you can change the handles too! Select the cabinet, click the pencil icon below, then look for “Other Versions”. Pick a different handle design you like.

7. Rename tombstones (yes, really)

Such a small but thoughtful detail. After one of your Paras passes away, you can click on the tombstone and rename it. Write their name on the grave. It hits different. 🥲
